Sell your horns to me
I make traditional Norwegian wind instruments – bukkehorn, flishorn, kuhorn and flutes – and I always need raw material. Do you have horns lying around, or access through a farm or slaughterhouse? I take in horns all year round.
Goat horn is what I need most, but I'm glad to take cow and sheep horn too. The minimum length is 30 cm, measured along the curve.
What I'm looking for
- Mostly goat horn, but cow and sheep horn are welcome too.
- At least 30 cm, measured along the curve (see how below).
- Whole, clean and untreated horns, ideally.
How to measure
Lay the tape measure against the inside of the horn and follow the curve from the wide end, by the skull, out to the tip. Don't measure in a straight line. That makes the horn shorter than it really is.
Condition and packing
- Dry, clean horns are best.
- Small cracks can be fine. Send a photo and I'll take a look.
- If the horns are fresh, pack them in salt so they don't rot before they reach me.
Price and delivery
- The price depends on species, size and quality. If you'd rather give them away, I'd be very grateful.
- Send them by post, well packed, or drop them off by arrangement.
- Payment by Vipps or bank transfer.

Which horns are most interesting?
Goat horn is what I need most, but cow and sheep horn are good to get too. What matters most is that the horn is long enough and of good quality.
How do I pack the horns for shipping?
If the horns are fresh, pack them in salt first. Wrap them in paper or cloth and put them in a sturdy cardboard box. Fill the space around them so the horn can't shift during transport. Avoid damp packaging.
